Michel Verjux: revealing space through light

In March 2011, artist Michel Verjux took over the underground galleries of the Donjon de Vez with a minimalist light installation. These galleries, dug into the rock and once used to extract the castle’s stones, become the stage for a subtle interplay of light and shadow.

Michel Verjux

A luminous installation in the heart of the underground

With his projections of white light, Verjux does not seek to add an external element, but to reveal the space itself. It highlights the rough texture of the walls and underlines the structure of the space, transforming the gallery into a work of art in itself. True to his approach, here he questions the way light shapes our perception and invites us to see our surroundings differently.
