Created in 2010 by Bernar Venet, this monumental sculpture is made up of nine inclined Corten steel beams, converging at a point at the top. It stands 30 metres high and weighs 75 tonnes, imposing its presence on the landscape of the Donjon de Vez.
9 oblique lines: Bernar Venet’s monumental momentum
A quest for harmony between modernity and heritage
Installed in the courtyard, the work blends harmoniously with the Donjnon, its rusty hues contrasting with the ancient stonework. The work seems to extend the verticality of the towers, taking the eye up to the sky. This visual dialogue between past and present reinforces the timelessness of the installation.
Bernar Venet, a master of monumental lines
A major figure in conceptual art, Bernar Venet explores the purity of geometric lines in his monumental steel sculptures. 9 lignes obliques illustrates his aesthetic research, free of symbolism and cultural references, offering a personal interpretation of movement and momentum.
