About us

A unique artistic and tourist initiative

Monumental Valois is an innovative artistic and tourism initiative based in the Pays de Valois Community of Communes, and inspired by international examples from Japan, the United States and Brazil. The aim of this project, the only one of its kind in Europe, is to create a trail of monumental sculptures, architecture and contemporary graffiti, scattered across the 62 communes of the region. It is supported by an endowment fund currently being set up.

Monumental Valois is an artistic and cultural project that invites contemporary artists to engage with the region’s heritage by revisiting emblematic monuments. Each work offers a new reading of the site it occupies, offering visitors a sensitive, poetic or offbeat take on history and architecture. Monumental Valois celebrates the encounter between contemporary art, collective memory and local identity.

The aim is to highlight nature and the local cultural heritage, by integrating works by renowned artists into the landscapes and historic monuments of the Pays de Valois.

About us

A veritable open-air museum

At the heart of the communauté de communes’ regional project, this open-air museum puts innovation at the service of tourism, culture and environmental development. This unique itinerary draws on the rich natural and architectural heritage of the Valois, hosting creations by international artists or offering artistic interventions directly on historical and natural sites.

About us

An unusual sculpture trail

In the long term, the project aims to establish a veritable trail of monumental works throughout the Pays de Valois, where each creation, while blending harmoniously into its environment, offers an interpretation of the Pays de Valois’ identity. With this initiative, the region aims to become a space for contemporary expression, where art, nature and history meet and interact in harmony.
