When art comes to meet the inhabitants… For the first time, a traveling exhibition of contemporary art takes over the Pays de Valois. From September 13 to November 2, the Maison des projets & expo (Pays de Valois Tourist Office) is hosting “Détours – L’Oise au fil de l’art contemporain”, a journey to the heart of artistic creation in the Oise region.
An art gallery at the heart of the region
Organized by the Conseil départemental de l’Oise, in partnership with the Frac Picardie, the Détours exhibition aims to promote contemporary art far beyond major cities. Thanks to an original scenography designed by artist and designer Olivier Vadrot, the Tourist Office is transformed into an ephemeral gallery. Visitors discover an immersive, accessible setting, designed as an open studio where they can move freely between wooden picture rails inspired by large easels.
Twelve artists, a fresh perspective
For the first time, twelve artists based in the Oise region are exhibiting together. Their works, often created outside the traditional circuits, are brought together here in the same space, offering a rich and plural vision of contemporary creation. Drawings, sculptures, photographs or installations: each discipline explores gesture, material or memory. Isabelle Cavalleri’s ink strokes, Diane de Longuemar’s sculpted forms, Georgia Russell’s meticulous cut-outs, Clément Fourment’s dreamlike landscapes and Daniel Pontoreau’s mineral and architectural pieces are just a few examples of these singular universes.
A lively, participatory tour
In addition to the works, Détours is also an opportunity to meet and share. Throughout the exhibition, the program is punctuated by special events: visits to artists’ studios, open-air drawing walks, discussions on the creative process… These are just some of the opportunities for the public to meet the artists, discover their world of work and learn about the creative process. These participatory events strengthen the link between contemporary art, the region and local residents, and open up new avenues of access to culture.
